ACUPUNCTURIST
Iren Shemelyak is a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) in the state of New York. She has a Master's Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. In addition, she is a nationally board-certified Diplomat in Oriental Medicine (Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine) with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Iren received additional advanced training at Fukushin Clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine where she focused her studies on acupuncture, tui na, and herbal treatments for weight management and related diseases.
Iren has completed Acupuncture 1, 2, 3 by Dr. Tan, trigger point acupuncture treatment, and kinesiology therapy continues education seminars. She specializes in treating neurological conditions such as pain, headaches, Parkinson’s disease, neuropathy, post-stroke treatment, and Bell's palsy.
She has a bachelor's degree in Biology from Touro College and a bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Her entire career has been spent working within the healthcare system.
Her knowledge of Western science and medicine coupled with training in Traditional Chinese Medicine allows her to clearly see the strengths and weaknesses of both systems. She believes that patients benefit from optimal usage of both the Western and Eastern traditions and that when used together the patient is the beneficiary.
